The Rolex Day Date President

Introduced in 1956 at the Basel Fair Switzerland, the Rolex Day Date became one of the flagship models of Rolex. Customers the world over instantly appreciated it for its uniqueness in showing both the date and the day on the dial unlike any previous models before. Today, the day is printed in 26 different languages, which stands testament to the worldwide appeal for this watch.

The Story behind Its Name: 'The President'

The model 6511 featured a new bracelet that was named the "President" this was after Rolex had decided to give one to United States President, Dwight D. Eisenhower in honour of his re-election. The word "President" has never appeared on the dial of the Day Date. However, it did become popular as the "President Model". Later on, other United States Presidents were proud to show-off this impressive model. This publicity led Rolex to undertake an advertising campaign with the slogan, "Men who guide the destinies of the world wear Rolex watches." Hence, today the Rolex Day Date is popularly known as the "President" or "Presidential"

Current models are available in either platinum or 18k gold (made at Rolex’s own foundry). However, there are a wide variety of options a person can choose from in the gold Day Date range. For instance, you can go for the yellow gold, white gold, or everose gold versions.

All Rolex Day Date models are available in the size’s 36mm case for both men and women and the new 41mm case size. The Rolex Presidential models have become popular for the huge variety of options that they offer in dials, bezels, and bracelets styles.
