Audemars Piguet watch to be auctioned in Monte Carlo

5 Jul 2010, 3:56 PM
Second-hand Audemars Piguet, watches will be going on sale at an auction in Monte Carlo later this month.

According to Paul Fraser Collectibles, a rare men's chronograph bracelet watch, which was manufactured by the brand for Cartier in 1956, will be up for grabs.

The auction takes place courtesy of Artcurial and the timepiece has a pre-sale estimate of between 70,000 (57,832) and 120,000.

It features an antique lacquered black dial powered by traditional mechanics, while it stays on the wearer's wrist thanks to its black crocodile skin strap with gold buckle.

The Audemars Piguet watch weighs 50 g and measures 36 mm in diameter, the news provider continues.

Accompanying the jewellery is a copy of its records, which state that after it was first manufactured alongside two similar devices, it was then sold in 1960.

Audemars Piguet was first established in 1875 and currently employs more than 1,000 people, 750 of whom are based in Switzerland
