In 1904, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier about the unreliability and impracticality of using a pocket watch while flying. With this in mind Louis Cartier then designed a flat wristwatch with a square bezel, creating the first mass produced men's wristwatch now known as the Cartier Santos. After being created in 1904 and made commercially available in 1911, the Cartier Santos has remained as one of Cartier's flagship designs and is still in production today with multiple iterations including the Santos Dumont. 

This model reference 96054 comes set in a 27mm 18ct yellow gold case with the iconic polished bezel complete with 8 screws. It features a white gloss dial with Roman numeral indicators, blued hands, and is powered by the infamous ultra flat F. Piguet 21 manually wound calibre. Fitted on a burgundy Cartier leather strap and is completed with a matching 18ct yellow gold Cartier deployment clasp.
