In 1971 the famous watch designer Gerald Genta was set the challenge to design a a stainless steel sports watch for the Italian markets which were suitable for any occasion, with the caveat being it was required for the following morning. Come morning Gerald had completed his designs for the Royal Oak, which he later articulates as 'the masterpiece of his career'. Often considered to be the first luxury sports watch, the Royal Oak was first introduced in 1972, at none other that the Baselworld watch fair. The watch was inspired by the portholes found on boats and features exposed screw heads, unique case design and an integral stainless steel link bracelet.
This iteration of the famed Royal Oak, reference 67651ST.ZZ.D011CR.01 comes set in an elegant 33mm brushed steel case with full diamond bezel and the iconic integrated link bracelet with butterfly folding clasp. Featuring the white Grande Tapisserie dial with applied white gold hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. The date aperture can be found at 3 o'clock, with the dial itself protected by a flat glare proof sapphire crystal glass. This Royal Oak is powered by the quartz calibre 2713 movement which is protected by a closed caseback which allows for a water resistance of 5atm (50m/165ft). This watch also comes with its original white alligator strap with clasp included (worn).
Originally purchased in August 2013 and in fine condition due to a few light marks on the case, bracelet and crown. This watch comes supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, AP service documentation (July 2015) and the original purchase invoice. This watch is sold with our 12-month warranty.
