Introduced in the early 1950s, this legendary timepiece was born out of necessity, as French naval officers sought a reliable instrument for their underwater missions. Developed in collaboration with Captain Robert "Bob" Maloubier and Lieutenant Claude Riffaud, the Fifty Fathoms made its debut in 1953 as one of the world's first modern diving watches, equipped with innovative features such as a unidirectional rotating bezel for measuring elapsed time underwater. With its robust construction and exceptional performance, the Fifty Fathoms quickly garnered acclaim among professional divers and enthusiasts alike, setting a standard of excellence that endures to this day.

This iconic version of the dive watch, reference 5050-12B30-B52A comes set in a 45mm titanium case fitted with a black unidirectional sapphire bezel complete with graduated Superluminova dive scale. Its black sunburst dial features luminous hour indexes and matching hands, as well as a 'Grande' double date aperture at 6 o'clock. These details are protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and powered by the automatic calibre 6918B movement, visible through an exhibition caseback. Lastly, its 30atm (300m/1000ft) water resistance is ensured by screwdown crown, and the watch is completed by black sail canvas strap with a titanium butterfly deployment buckle.

Originally purchased in August 2022 and in mint condition. Supplied as a full set with everything it was original supplied with including its original Pelican inner case and outer box, instruction booklet, guarantee manual, divers logbook, black booklet holder, polishing cloth, original purchase invoice and international warranty card.
