First introduced in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer has become one of the most recognisable pilot’s watches ever made. Designed for professional aviators, its distinctive slide rule bezel allowed pilots to perform vital flight calculations long before the advent of modern cockpit instruments. Over the decades, the Navitimer has remained a symbol of precision, innovation and enduring design, earning its place as a true icon in the history of horology.

This particular example, reference 806, dates from 1966 and captures the timeless character of the early Navitimer models. It features a 40mm stainless-steel case with a black dial contrasted beautifully by three aged silver sub-dials. The dial retains the classic beaded slide rule bezel that defines this legendary chronograph, as well as luminous hour markers, and matching hands. Powering the watch is the renowned manual-wind Venus calibre 178, a movement celebrated for its reliability and historical significance within Breitling’s vintage chronographs. Lastly, this Navitimer is presented on a black calf leather strap with a stainless-steel pin buckle, complementing its authentic vintage character.
