The Cartier Tank Basculante, introduced in 1933, stands as a testament to Cartier's innovative approach to watchmaking during the Art Deco era. Designed to combine elegance with functionality, the Basculante was a clever response to the challenges of protecting a watch’s delicate crystal and dial. Its defining feature, a reversible case mounted on a pivoting frame, allowed wearers to flip the watch face inward, safeguarding it during rigorous activities. Inspired by the sporty practicality of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso but infused with Cartier's signature sophistication, the Tank Basculante became a symbol of timeless ingenuity. With its clean, geometric lines and understated allure, the Basculante remains an enduring icon in Cartier's Tank collection.

This iteration of the Tank Basculante, reference W1011358 comes set in a polished 25.4 x 38.6 mm stainless steel case and is fitted with a blue alligator strap with matching deployment clasp. The silver Guilloche dial features black printed roman numerals and blued steel sword hands. These details are protected by a flat sapphire crystal and powered by the manual wind calibre 060 MC movement which is protected by a closed brushed caseback. Lastly, its 3atm (30m/100ft) water resistance is ensured by a push/pull crown embellished with a blue spinel cabochon and located at 12 o'clock.

Originally sold in March 2005 and in mint condition for its age, supplied with its original inner box, instruction booklet, 2025 service documentation and its original international warranty card. 

This Cartier is sold with our 12-month warranty from the date of purchase, however is also covered by its 'Century Watch Repairs' service warranty until January 2027.
