Designed by Louis Cartier in 1916, the legendary Tank watch is an icon of modern watchmaking and for more than a century, Cartier has reinterpreted the Tank whilst remaining faithful to the original concept. Influenced by the classical square shapes of traditional French architecture, the Cartier Tank Francaise became an immediate success when it was launched. A variation of the original Tank, it introduced smoother, bevelled edges, adding further elegance to the classic design.

This version of the Cartier Tank Francaise, reference W5000156 comes set in a 28 x 32 mm 18ct yellow gold case featuring all of the classic art deco design touches that you can expect from a Cartier timepiece. These include a silver guilloche dial, black printed roman numeral indexes, blued steel hands and an octagonal 18ct yellow gold crown embellished with a blue spinel cabochon. Powering the watch is the automatic calibre 2000-1 movement, which is protected behind a sold 18ct yellow gold caseback. Lastly, this watch is completed by a brown alligator strap, secured by a polished 18ct yellow gold pin buckle. 

Originally sold in April 2001 and in mint condition following a full service with Cartier in April 2025. Supplied with its original inner box, additional brand new replacement dark brown alligator strap, additional generic light brown strap, instruction booklet, service centre booklet, red Cartier booklet holder, Cartier service documentation (April 2025) and original international guarantee booklet.
