Created in 1927 by two aristocrats to compensate for the loss of the Italian Grand Prix by their hometown of Brescia, the Mille Miglia took the original option of having racing cars compete on roads rather than tracks. Discontinued in 1957 for safety reasons, it was revived 20 years later under the name Mille Miglia Storica and became the world’s most prestigious classic car endurance race.

In 1988, Chopard took on the twin roles of partner and official timekeeper to the famous Mille Miglia race. Chopard became the main sponsor of the legendary Mille Miglia and one of the first watch brands to associate its name with the automobile world. Chopard displays its sporting spirit by presenting an annual limited edition to mark the latest edition of the race.

This version the reference 8992 comes set in a polished 42mm stainless steel round case with an engraved 24 hour bezel. The dial is a clean black colour with contrasting white Tachymeter markers around the chapter ring, printed white 5 minute increments and luminous sword hands. The dial is finished off with the date feature between 3 o’clock and triple chronograph sub-dials at 6/9/12 with the red Mille Miglia logo at 3 o’clock. Powered by a Chopard automatic movement which can be seen through the exhibition caseback, coming supplied on a matching stainless steel bracelet with a dual folding clasp (also featuring the 1000 Miglia logo).

Originally purchased in April 2009 and in mint condition, this Chopard comes with its original inner & outer boxes, instruction booklet, chronometer certificate and international warranty certificate.
