The Swiss Watch Co UK Ltd proudly presents the Heuer Vintage Autavia GMT.
A charismatic vintage Autavia GMT, full of personality and charm, from the golden age of motorsport-inspired wristwatches. Featuring its original iconic “Pepsi” bezel that has gained a charming vintage patina over the years. Vintage Heuer pieces are currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity, less often seen than their Rolex rivals, they are increasingly sought-after by today's collectors. This is due to both low production volumes and the fact that many examples have been poorly restored and replaced with later components. This example on the other hand, has to be admired for its lovely condition.
Heuer introduced its first Autavia Chronograph in 1962. The introduction of the Heuer GMT followed soon after, around 1969, complementing classic Heuer styling with vibrant new colours. The name Autavia itself is a combination of the words Automobile and Aviation, and was the first new model launched under the guidance of the company’s then-new CEO, Jack Heuer.
This Heuer GMT 2446C has a reverse, panda dial and features oversized registers, the hour markers are applied with tritium lume, together with red index markings. What is characteristic to this watch is the steel-edged, mixed luminous and red painted minute and hour hands. Further to this, the Heuer GMT also features a bold “arrow head” GMT hand and coordinating chronograph sweep seconds' hand. The watch retains its original, charming blue and red bezel which gives this model its Pepsi name.
The crown of the watch is correct and bears the standard Heuer signature. Supplied in Fine condition considering its age, this watch is a must-see for fans of vintage Heuer timepieces.
