IWC Pilots Top Gun Chronograph, IW389001

The Pilots series of watches were designed in accordance with military specifications and nowadays have reached a cult status that few wristwatches attain. IWC’s first proper purpose-built pilots watch was produced in 1936 and followed up nearly a decade later with the MOD commissioned Mark X (the official start of the Mark series). The watch adhered to specific military requirements in terms of robustness and dial layout. 

This version, the reference IW389001, comes in an ergonomic 44.5mm matte black ceramic case with a smooth matching matte bezel. The dial is a crisp black colour with large luminous contrasting Arabic numerals and dagger hands. The dial is finished off with a legible white date aperture at 3 o’clock and twin chronograph sub-dials at 12/6 (bottom sub-dial has a contrasting red sweep-seconds hand) and is protected by a domed sapphire crystal glass. It has the iconic ‘Top Gun’ emblem engraved on the solid caseback to protect the IWC calibre 89361 automatic movement and comes fitted on a black textured calfskin strap with a folding IWC stainless steel clasp.

Originally purchased in February 2019 and in mint condition, this IWC comes with its original inner box, cleaning cloth, instruction booklet and international warranty card. This IWC is sold with a 12-month warranty from SWC.
