The origins of the Portofino’s large, minimalistic case design can be traced back to the 1970s, when the Lépine pocket watch inspired IWC to create a collection defined by refined simplicity and timeless appeal. First introduced in 1984, the Portofino family has since become a cornerstone of IWC’s collection, embodying understated luxury and enduring style.

This particular reference, IW391023, continues that heritage with contemporary sophistication. Housed in a polished 42mm stainless steel case with smooth, rounded edges for an elegant wrist presence, it features a striking blue dial, it showcases applied silver baton hour markers, slender feuille (leaf-shaped) hands, and Roman numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock, maintaining the signature Portofino balance of classic and modern design.

At 3 o’clock, twin apertures display the day and date, while the chronograph sub-dials provide practical timing functionality – the 12 and 6 o’clock counters record up to 12 hours, and the 9 o’clock sub-dial tracks the running seconds. All functions are protected beneath a domed sapphire crystal and powered by the IWC Calibre 75320 automatic movement, offering precision and reliability with a 44-hour power reserve.

Completing the look is a black alligator leather strap fitted with an IWC stainless steel pin buckle, ensuring both comfort and classic refinement.
