IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase Eight Days, IW516401

The origins of the large, minimalist case design for the Portofino can be traced back to the 1970s, when the Lépine pocket watch became the inspiration for the entire watch family. The “pocket-watch-style wristwatch” was presented in 1984 with the name “Portofino”. Since then, this watch family, with timepieces that retain their value and, above all, remain timeless, has been a permanent part of IWC’s collection.

This version the reference IW5164-01 was first produced in 2017 and comes set in a polished 45mm stainless steel case with smooth rounded edges for a comfortable fit on the wrist. The clean silver dial conforms to the minimalist IWC design and features applied rose gold baton hour markers, matching feuille/leaf hands with applied Roman numeral 12 o'clock indicator. At 3 o’clock there is a date aperture as well as a large Moon phase at 12 o'clock. The 6 o’clock sub-dial is your running second hand, whilst there is a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock displaying how many days of power are left in the watch. These details are protected by a domed sapphire crystal glass and powered by the IWC calibre 59800 manual wind mechanism, visible through its large exhibition caseback. Lastly, the watch comes fitted on a brown IWC alligator strap with polished stainless steel deployment buckle.

Originally purchased in December 2018 and in mint condition, this Portofino comes with its original inner box, instruction booklet, cleaning cloth, guarantee booklet and its original international warranty card.
