    Millionaire's First Buys

What's on your lottery wish list? If you suddenly became a millionaire, what would you choose to buy first?

Some people, when asked this question, will let their imagination run wild. They'd like an indoor soft play centre for their children, or a house made entirely of chocolate. Often, the things we imagine we want are completely unrealistic. When we really have that money, we might change our mind and choose something a lot more sensible.

When people become millionaires, what do they really want to buy?

    Dining Out

When people have a financial windfall, they often celebrate with a meal and a bottle of champagne. Dining out is a favourite activity of many a new millionaire.

When you have money to afford the finer things in life, food becomes so much more than fuel. Eating is an experience, with gourmet dining often being listed as a hobby.

    New Car

Often, a new car is high on the list of priorities. Something more reliable. Something that looks better. Something faster, or cooler, or more stylish.

Surprisingly, many millionaires aren't interested in buying the most expensive cars. But, something new and reliable is considered to be very important. People want to feel that they can trust their car, with minimal time-wasting maintenance.

    New House

Becoming a millionaire provides the chance to move house. Some people stay in the same town or city, whilst others make their way to a different country. Would your dream house be a beach villa, a grand country house or just somewhere a bit closer to the office?

With roughly 25% of households living in rental properties, many people just want to get on the housing ladder. A new millionaire might not look for a new house, but could simply want to buy the one that they already live in.

    Travel

Mountains of money can be used to travel the world. Many new millionaires spend their money on a holiday they'll really enjoy. For families, that's often something like a visit to Disney World Florida. For those without children, a tropical island or perhaps an African safari.

Cruises are a popular choice for a new millionaire. They're a chance to enjoy many destinations, seeing the world from the water and on land.

    Luxury Watch

Luxury watches are amongst the first purchases of many millionaires. These are an investment, a status symbol and a beautiful timepiece all in one. Not only is a watch a timepiece that will last a lifetime, investing in such a piece is a mark of celebration.

A designer watch, from Rolex watches to Hublot, will add a touch of prestige to your wardrobe. It's something to be proud of, and a symbol of your financial strength.

    Clothing

Designer watches are amongst the finest of status symbols. Clothes, too, are a popular choice. Designer clothes can make you feel great, adding to your confidence and brightening every single day. No wonder, then, that many new millionaires go clothes shopping as a top priority.

    Concert & Show Tickets

A concert tour, or a theatre show, is something of a luxury experience. Many people save for months, or years, for tickets to watch their favourite band. As a result, concert and show tickets are other millionaires first buys. What better way to celebrate your bigger bank balance than with a night out, dinner and a show or a chance to see your music idols?

Interestingly, most millionaire's first buys are not ridiculously extravagant purchases. Their first purchases are often very practical and valuable. First buys often make life easier, remove stress and are financial investments. Otherwise, first buys are often experiences that can only be enjoyed when you have money. Very few people, when their dreams become reality, really want an indoor bouncy castle.
