The Constellation family has been around for 69 years (in 2021) and is currently one of Omega’s oldest collections. What started out as a chronometer for men in 1952 has undergone countless aesthetic transformations, from the pie-pan dials of the 1950s to the ultra-thin quartz watches of the 1970s leading to the consolidation of the collection in 1982 with the Constellation Manhattan and its hallmark claws.

This version from the mid 1980’s comes set in a polished 35mm stainless steel case with the black engraved Roman numeral yellow gold bezel, featuring the iconic ‘claws’ at 3/9 o’clock. The dial is a clean champagne colour with gold dot hour markers, surrounded by printed black train-track minute markers around the outer part of the dial, which match the black edged hands for increased legibility. There is also a date aperture at 3 o’clock and the dial is protected by a flat mineral glass. The watch is powered by the Omega calibre 1109 automatic mechanism, which is visible through an exhibition caseback (one of the earliest Omegas to have this feature) and comes fitted on an integral Omega steel/gold ‘half-bar’ bracelet with a sliding clasp.

Originally purchased in circa 1986 and in fine condition for its age (marks on case), this Constellation comes with an Omega box. This Constellation is sold with a 12-month warranty from SWC.
