    Highlights

The Swiss Watch Co UK Ltd presents this stylish Omega Museum Collection Pilots 1938 watch for sale.

The Omega Museum Collection arose from a desire to combine the traditional values of the Omega brand with the very latest technological standards. The Omega Museum Collection brings back to life as limited editions some of the unique watches from the museum, which are a minimum of 50 years old – watches that have marked the company's history of innovation in design and engineering.

Since before 1940, Omega was making watches for the British armed forces and its allies. To meet the volume and precision requirements of the order, OMEGA had to fast-track its advances in water-resistant, shockproof and antimagnetic watches through industrialisation. Amidst the uncompromising conditions of the front lines, OMEGA watches went on to prove their reliability and strength.

Born out of those requirements was the Omega Pilots watch on which this stunning Museum piece is based. This model measures 40.2mm in a polished stainless steel case with long straight lugs. The bezel has a polished finish and is bi-rotational to allow precise timing using the triangle indicator that sits on top of the brushed steel chapter ring with red numerals and 15/30/45 minute markers. The dial itself is matt black and features large Arabic numerals in the vintage Pilots style with matching cathedral hands. There is also a sub-second dial as you would find on most watches before 1950. The dial also features two contrasting white chapter rings with minute markers and split-seconds for increased accuracy whilst timing. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal glass and is powered by an Omega calibre 2200 automatic self-winding movement, covered by an embossed caseback. The watch is fitted on a brown Omega calf leather strap with a steel pin buckle.

Originally purchased in July 2003 and in mint condition, the watch comes with its original Omega Museum display case, chronometer certificate, operating instructions, white leather card holder and international warranty card. This model is a Limited Edition and is 1 of 4938 ever made between 2000-2008 and would be a great piece for any Omega collector.

I have bought many watches over the years and some through online and retail specialists. I must say that the service, professionalism and attentive service by John and Dee at the Swiss Watch Company was exemplary. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and hope to repeat the experience many times over the coming years.
