The Omega Seamaster line was first introduced in 1948, initially designed as a series of elegant dress watches with improved water resistance. At the time, it was a significant innovation, combining stylish aesthetics with the practicality of a more durable, water-resistant design. While not initially intended for diving, these early Seamasters marked a shift toward watches that could withstand more demanding environments. Over the years, the Seamaster evolved, with the brand introducing professional diving models like the Seamaster 300 in the 1950s, cementing its reputation as a reliable tool watch. Its growing association with adventure and exploration eventually led to its iconic status, especially after being featured in the James Bond films.

This Omega Seamaster Chronograph 'Big Blue,' reference 176.004 was first released in the 1970's and is widely considered to be a standout model in the brand's history, particularly revered by collectors today. Known for its bold and vibrant blue dial, the 'Big Blue' was one of the first chronographs designed for professional diving, featuring a larger 44mm case size and a robust design. Powering this famed dive watch is the automatic calibre 1040 chronograph movement, which is protected by a closed screwdown caseback featuring the hippocampus logo. Lastly, the watch is completed by a brushed stainless steel bracelet with classic Omega fold over clasp. 

Originally produced in 1973 (dated from serial) and in good all original condition, supplied with our branded watch roll, our authenticity card and a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
