Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo XI , 145.022BA

We are proud to present this highly significant and very collectible Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XI 1969, reference 145.022BA, the first gold model Speedmaster made by Omega, offered in excellent condition for its age and carefully checked in our workshop.

Few watches are as closely tied to one of humanity’s defining moments as the Omega Speedmaster. Following the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing on July 21st, 1969, Omega commemorated mankind’s first steps on the lunar surface with a special gold Speedmaster, a watch that has since become one of the most important references in the Speedmaster lineage.

Introduced in 1969 and produced until 1973, the Speedmaster Apollo XI 145.022BA was manufactured in a limited run of just 1,014 pieces. They are all individually numbered, watch number one was presented to US President Nixon in November 1969, although he rejected the watch due to the value, a small number were presented to astronauts and other dignitaries, the remainder were made available to the public, instantly setting this model apart as a landmark commemorative edition.

This example is crafted entirely in 18ct yellow gold and retains the unmistakable design elements that define the reference. The watch features the correct burgundy tachymètre bezel with Dot Over 90, a detail exclusive to this era, and the celebrated solid gold “OM” dial (Or Massif), marked discreetly next to Swiss Made. The dial is fitted with distinctive square onyx hour markers, lending remarkable depth and richness, and is signed with the early oval “O” Omega logo, a tell-tale characteristic of the earliest executions.

Powering the watch is the legendary Omega calibre 861 manual-winding chronograph movement, the same Lémania-based movement that succeeded the calibre 321 and went on to define the Speedmaster for decades. The movement is housed behind a solid commemorative caseback, engraved to honour the Apollo XI mission and its place in history.

Unlike standard steel Moonwatches, the 145.022BA occupies a unique position: a Speedmaster created not as a tool, but as a celebration, bold, luxurious, and historically charged.

This watch is supplied with a genuine Omega presentation box (note: not the original Mooncrater box issued at time of sale). No original papers are present, which is reflected accordingly. The watch is sold with our 12-month warranty for peace of mind.
