Few watches carry the legendary status of the Omega Speedmaster. Having accompanied astronauts on all six lunar landings, the Speedmaster Professional has long symbolised human exploration, mechanical robustness, and enduring design. Since 1969, when it recorded mankind’s first steps on the Moon, the “Moonwatch” has become one of the most recognisable and respected chronographs ever produced.

Among the modern Speedmaster variations, the “TinTin” holds a special place due to its unique origins and its unexpectedly limited production run. Initially conceived as a collaboration between Omega and the estate of Hergé, creator of The Adventures of Tintin, the watch was designed as a tribute to Destination Moon, the 1953 comic that imagined lunar exploration nearly two decades before Apollo 11.

The distinctive red-and-white chequered minute track was inspired directly by Tintin’s iconic rocket. Omega originally intended to place a stylised rocket motif on the dial, but after licensing negotiations collapsed, the collaboration halted. Only one prototype featuring the rocket is known to exist, and the production watch was released quietly as the “Speedmaster Racing.” With no formal Tintin branding and a brief, low-volume production period, the model quickly became one of the most desirable modern Speedmasters, a rare and genuine collector’s piece.

This example features the classic 42mm stainless steel Moonwatch case with a black fixed tachymeter bezel. The striking black dial is framed by the signature red-and-white racing minute track, accompanied by the traditional tri-compax layout: small seconds, 30-minute recorder, and 12-hour recorder. The dial is protected by a domed hesalite crystal bearing the central Omega logo.

Inside beats the historic Omega calibre 1861, the manual-wind chronograph movement directly descended from the calibre worn on the Moon. The watch is fitted to the period-correct brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp, and offers 50m water resistance.

Originally purchased in 2016, this watch comes in mint condition, supplied with its red Omega inner and outer presentation boxes, cream cardholder, operating instructions, pictogram card, and international warranty card.

A standout modern Speedmaster with true collector pedigree, the “TinTin” remains one of the most distinctive and sought-after variants of the Moonwatch family.
