We are proud to present this stylish Panerai Radiomir 1938 Limited Edition watch for sale.
In 1935 the Royal Italian Navy approached Panerai and other watch manufacturers with the request of designing a watch resistant to extreme conditions while at the same time keeping exact time for the frogman commandos of the First Submarine Group Command and offering excellent legibility even under water. The prototype submitted by Panerai in 1936 was called the Radiomir, from the name of the luminescent substance used for hands and indices, subsequently passing all of the tests successfully.
This version of the Radiomir, reference PAM00232 is a limited edition launched in 2006 and takes inspiration from the 1938 original, hence being limited to 1938 pieces. It is also important to note that this model also marks the return of the 47mm Radiomir case which has not been seen since the original PAM21. The tobacco Sandwich dial features cut out luminous hour indices and third Arab numerals, with matching luminous 18t yellow gold hand set. This limited edition is powered by the infamous manually wound Calibre OP X which is protected by a closed caseback and screwdown crown, both of which allowing for a water resistance of 10atm (100m/330ft). Supplied on a brown Panerai leather strap with oversized trapezoidal pin buckle clasp.
Originally purchased in May 2007 and in mint condition having not been worn since its service with Panerai in April 2018. This Radiomir comes supplied as a full and complete set with its original inner and outer boxes, both booklets, swing tag, 'Legendary Watches' book, limited edition scroll, service documentation (April 2018) and international warranty card.
