Rolex Vintage GMT-Master Underline, 1675

We are proud to present the iconic Rolex Vintage GMT-Master watch for sale.

Since its inception in 1954 the Rolex GMT-Master has been the master of the skies and has adorned the wrists of pilots, astronauts and aviation enthusiasts ever since. Originally designed in collaboration with Pan Am Airways, the Rolex GMT-Master was initially created for Pan AM and issued by them to their pilots and crews on long-haul flights. The key feature of the watch was that it allowed the wearer to simultaneously reference two different time zones with its unique 24 hour bi-rotational bezel.

This is a rare example of the reference 1675, which was produced from 1959 until 1980. It is set in a 39mm stainless steel Oyster case with the early reference 'eagle beak' crown guards. It features the iconic ‘Pepsi’ red/blue bi-rotational 24-hour bezel with the ‘oval top’ 18. The dial is an original black gilt chapter ring dial (type 3) with a rare underline print below the SCOC (dial has natural patina for a 56 year old watch). The hour markers, hands and red GMT/second time zone hand are all original and have beautifully aged creamy luminous filling and natural patina and the dial is finished off with the date indicator at 3 o’clock (protected by an acrylic plexi-glass with cyclops). The watch is powered by the Rolex calibre 1565 automatic movement, which is protected by a solid steel caseback featuring an engraving. The watch is fitted on its original classic stainless steel Jubilee bracelet with a folding clasp, stamped 65.

Originally purchased in December 1964 and in fine, unpolished condition for its age, this GMT-Master comes with its original chronometer certificate, previous service papers from 1969 and 2012 and its original warranty booklet and box.
