Rolex Air-King Super Precision Vintage, 5500

We proudly present this stunning silver dial vintage Rolex Air King for sale, fully checked and authenticated in our accredited workshop. 

Conceived by Hans Wilsdorf to pay tribute to World War II pilots, the Rolex Air-King boasts a remarkable production history spanning over seven decades. Pilots and fervent Rolex admirers alike have embraced the Air-King, with esteemed companies such as Pan-Am selecting these timepieces as retirement gifts for their pilots. The enduring legacy of the Air-King is a testament to its timeless design and the admiration it commands within aviation circles and beyond.

This early 'Super Precision' iteration of the famed Air-King, reference 5500, comes set in a 34mm stainless steel Oyster case with smooth polished bezel and fitted with a screwdown crown which ensures its 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance. The 'aged'  silver dial features a contrasting black minute track, applied arrow head hour indicators, 3/6/9 numerals and matching hands, all protected by an acrylic plexi crystal. Driven by the automatic calibre 1520 and further safeguarded by solid screwdown caseback. Lastly, this Air-King is completed by a stainless steel riveted 'stretch' Oyster bracelet with folding Oyster clasp. 

Originally sold in 1965 and in fine condition for its age, supplied with its original inner and outer rolex boxes, with an assortment of Rolex and Watches of Switzerland service receipts, original purchase receipt and its original international warranty booklet.
