Rolex Air-King Vintage , 5500

We proudly present this stunning vintage Rolex Air King for sale in mint condition, fully checked and authenticated in our accredited workshop. 

Conceived by Hans Wilsdorf to pay tribute to World War II pilots, the Rolex Air-King boasts a remarkable production history spanning over seven decades. Pilots and fervent Rolex admirers alike have embraced the Air-King, with esteemed companies such as Pan-Am selecting these timepieces as retirement gifts for their pilots. The enduring legacy of the Air-King is a testament to its timeless design and the admiration it commands within aviation circles and beyond.

This version of the famed Air-King, reference 5500, was first released in 1957 and was produced for a phenomenal 32 years until being discontinued in 1989. Coming set in a 34mm stainless steel Oyster case with smooth polished bezel and fitted with a screwdown crown which ensures the 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance. The silver sandblasted dial features applied baton indicators and matching hands, whilst being protected by a domed acrylic plexi crystal. Driving the watch is the automatic calibre 1520 movement which is safeguarded by solid screwdown caseback. Lastly, this Air-King is completed by the rarer 'stretch' rivet Oyster bracelet with folding Oyster clasp. 

Originally sold in April 1971 and in mint condition for its age following a full service, coming supplied with its original inner and outer box, swing tag and original guarantee booklet.
