Rooted in Rolex’s long-standing association with motor racing, the Cosmograph Daytona traces its lineage back to the sporting chronographs of the early 20th century. Officially introduced in 1963, the Daytona was designed as a professional timing instrument for racing drivers, featuring a tachymeter bezel for measuring average speeds. In 1965, the model took on the now-legendary “Daytona” name, cementing its place as one of the most important and collectible chronographs ever produced.

This reference 116520 represents a pivotal chapter in Daytona history, marking the transition to Rolex’s fully in-house automatic chronograph movement. Housed in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, the watch features a fixed engraved units-per-hour bezel and a crisp white dial with applied luminous hour markers and hands, all edged in white gold. The silver-rimmed chronograph sub-dials provide clear elapsed time measurement up to 12 hours, while the dial is protected by a flat sapphire crystal.

At its heart is the Rolex calibre 4130, a benchmark automatic chronograph movement celebrated for its reliability, efficiency and clean architecture. Water resistance to 100 metres (10 atm) is ensured by the Triplock screw-down crown, with the watch completed by the iconic stainless steel Oyster bracelet fitted with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp.

Originally purchased in June 2011, this Daytona remains in mint condition and has been serviced by Rolex in January 2026, offering exceptional peace of mind. It is supplied with its original inner and outer Rolex boxes, international warranty card, Rolex service card, booklets, and both swing tags.
