Rolex Cosmograph Daytona , 116520

Introduced in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers and differed from the older Rolex chronographs by having the tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel for greater dial legibility. It allowed drivers using the chronograph to measure the average speed over a given distance based on elapsed time and has since become an icon and has adorned the wrists of many famous people since, including the man who has become synonymous with the Daytona, Paul Newman.

This version the 116520 was produced for 11 years and is now discontinued. It is set in a polished 40mm stainless steel Oyster case with a clean black dial, featuring luminous hour markers edged in white gold and sword hands with black inlays as well as triple sub-dials for recording up to 12 hours. The pushers and crown are both screw-down giving superior water resistance and the watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal glass. Powered by the automatic calibre 4130 chronograph movement and fitted on a stainless steel Oyster link bracelet and secured by a folding Oysterlock clasp.

Originally purchased in October 2004 and in mint condition for its age, this Daytona comes with its original inner & outer boxes, translation booklet, Rolex service card (April 2022) and international warranty card. This Daytona benefits from the coverage of its Rolex service warranty until April 2024 however is also sold with our 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
