Introduced in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers and differed from the older Rolex chronographs by having the tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel for greater dial legibility. It allowed drivers using the chronograph to measure the average speed over a given distance based on elapsed time and has since become an icon and has adorned the wrists of many famous people since, including the man who has become synonymous with the Daytona, Paul Newman.

This version the 116520 was produced for 11 years and is now discontinued. It is set in a polished 40mm stainless steel Oyster case with a crisp white dial, featuring luminous hour markers edged in white gold and sword hands with black inlays, inner engraved rehaut (RRR) and triple sub-dials for recording up to 12 hours. The pushers and crown are both screw-down giving a water resistance of 10atm (100m/330ft) and the dial is protected by a flat sapphire crystal. Powered by the automatic in-house calibre 4130 chronograph movement and fitted on a stainless steel Oyster link bracelet with a folding Oysterlock clasp.

Originally purchased in December 2007 and in fine condition, this Daytona comes with its original inner & outer boxes, swing tag, guarantee booklet, Rolex service booklet, Daytona bracelet booklet and original international warranty card.
