Created in 1945 and still produced today, the Datejust is Rolex’s longest running collection. Although the dials, hands and case size may have changed in the last 75 years the Datejust has earned its iconic status with its timeless aesthetics and reliable functionality. The brands first automatic watch to feature the date window at 3 o’clock and combined with the waterproof Oyster case made it a watch for all occasions.

This model reference the 16220 was launched in 1988 and was produced until the mid-2000’s. It came with a number of upgrades such as solid end lugs, a sapphire crystal glass and an upgraded movement. The dial is a striking champagne colour with an unusual ‘pin-stripe’ texture and features applied silver baton hour markers and the classic date feature at 3 o’clock. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal glass with a cyclops lens for the date. The watch is fitted with a screw-down crown and powered by the Rolex calibre 3135 automatic self-winding mechanism with a quick date-change. Presented on the iconic stainless steel Oyster link bracelet with a folding clasp.

Originally purchased in January 1999 and in mint condition for its age (few marks on the case/clasp), this Datejust comes supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, Oyster & Datejust booklet, seal, calendar card, leather card holder and original perforated warranty paperwork. It is sold with a 12-month warranty from SWC.
