First introduced in 1945, the Datejust is Rolex’s longest-running and most recognisable collection. Celebrated as the world’s first self-winding chronometer wristwatch to feature an instantaneous date display at 3 o’clock, the Datejust set a new standard for everyday luxury. Its combination of timeless design, technical reliability and the waterproof Oyster case has made it one of the most versatile and enduring watches ever produced.

This example, reference 16233, was produced during the model’s classic two-tone era and is set in a 36mm stainless steel Oyster case paired with an 18ct yellow gold fluted bezel. The dial is a white finish, distinguished by Roman numeral hour markers accented with diamond-set indexes, complemented by matching yellow gold hands. The date aperture at 3 o’clock is magnified by Rolex’s signature Cyclops lens, with the dial protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Powering the watch is the Rolex calibre 3135 automatic chronometer movement, widely regarded for its robustness, precision and longevity. Water resistance to 100 metres (10 atm) is ensured by the screw-down crown, while the watch is completed by the iconic Rolesor Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel and 18ct yellow gold, secured with a folding clasp for comfort and security.

Originally purchased circa 1993, this Datejust is presented in like new condition and supplied with its original inner and outer Rolex boxes, blank punched warranty paper, two green Rolex leather card holders, Datejust booklets, and calendar card.

A beautifully balanced and highly desirable configuration, this Datejust has only been tried on a few times in its life, the bezel is sharp and there is absolutely no wear in the jubilee bracelet, it is as if it was a new watch.
