The Rolex Oysterquartz represents a unique chapter in the esteemed history of Rolex timepieces. Launched in the 1970s as a response to the quartz revolution, the Oysterquartz series embodied Rolex's commitment to precision and innovation. Characterized by its quartz movement, the collection offered a departure from the traditional mechanical movements that Rolex was renowned for. The Oysterquartz models, including the Datejust and Day-Date, featured robust Oyster cases and integrated bracelets, maintaining the brand's signature durability and aesthetic appeal. Although being produced for 25 years, there were only 25,000 units ever produced, making it a fascinating and collectible part of Rolex's legacy that marks the brand's exploration into the world of quartz technology.

This version of the Oysterquartz, reference 17013, comes set in a 36mm stainless steel case fitted with an elegant 18ct yellow gold fluted bezel. Its champagne sunburst finished dial features applied 18ct yellow gold baton hour indexes and matching hands, as well as the classic date aperture at 3 o'clock. These details are protected by a flat sapphire crystal (the Oysterquartz was one of the first model to have sapphire fitted) and driven by the quartz calibre 5035 chronometer movement. Lastly, the 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance is ensured by a screwdown crown, with the watch completed by an integrated Rolesor (18ct yellow gold / Stainless steel) bracelet secured by the classic folding clasp with embossed crown. 

Originally purchased in December 1980 and in mint condition thanks to its recent Rolex service in July 2022, this Oysterquartz comes complete with a Rolex green service box, service card and original international warranty certificate.

This Oysterquartz benefits from the coverage of its Rolex service warranty until July 2024, however it is also sold with our 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
