While often one of the lesser discussed models in the Rolex catalogue, the Turn-O-Graph holds an important place in the brand’s history. First introduced in 1953, it was the first commercially available Rolex to feature a rotating bezel, laying the groundwork for many of the brand’s later tool watches. Combining everyday Datejust elegance with added functionality, the Turn-O-Graph developed a character all of its own and later became affectionately associated with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbird aerobatic squadron, from which its nickname is derived.

This example, reference 116264, is housed in a 36mm stainless steel Oyster case and fitted with an 18ct white gold rotating fluted bezel with graduated markings for measuring elapsed time. The black dial features applied baton hour markers, matching hands, a red seconds hand, and the signature date display at 3 o’clock beneath the classic Cyclops magnifier. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, while the watch is powered by the highly regarded Rolex calibre 3135 automatic chronometer movement. Completing the watch is the classic stainless steel Oyster link bracelet, giving the model its distinctive blend of sportiness and refinement.

Originally purchased in November 2005, D serial, this watch is offered in fine condition, showing imperfections to the glass and bezel, Rolex striped stickers intact on the sides of the case. It is supplied with a Rolex service box only.
