Originally launched in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date President has remained as the brand’s signature luxury watch. Exclusively crafted in precious metals, few luxury watches come close to the prestige, excellence, and timelessness of the Rolex President. When Rolex introduced the Day-Date, it was the first watch include the day of the week written in full at 12 o’clock along with the date window at 3 o’clock. Another hallmark of the Rolex Day-Date is its bracelet, officially named the ‘President’ bracelet. Characterized by its semi-circular links, the President bracelet is almost as famous as the timepiece itself, not to mention the icons who wore one.
This iteration of the Day-Date, reference 118238 was introduced in 2000 and comes set in a polished 36mm solid 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with an elegant matching fluted bezel. The champagne sunburst dial features applied 18ct yellow gold Roman numeral hour markers and matching hands, as well as the classic day / date apertures at 12 / 3 o'clock. These details are protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and powered by the automatic calibre 3155 chronometer movement. Its 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance is ensured by a Twinlock crown, with the watch completed by the iconic 18ct yellow gold president bracelet with concealed folding clasp.
Originally purchased in March 2004 and in mint condition, supplied with its original Rolex inner & outer boxes, instruction booklet, guarantee manual, leather warranty holder, leather Rolex notebook holder, seal, swing tag, calendar card, translation booklet, original purchase invoice and international warranty card.
This Day Date was rarely worn, it is immaculate, the 18ct gold President watch bracelet is tight and has no signs of any wear.
It will be very hard to find a twenty year old Day-Date as good as this one.
