Rolex Day-Date President Vintage, 18038

Originally launched in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date President has remained as the brand’s signature luxury watch. Exclusively crafted in precious metals, few luxury watches come close to the prestige, excellence, and timelessness of the Rolex President. When Rolex introduced the Day-Date, it was the first watch include the day of the week written in full at 12 o’clock along with the date window at 3 o’clock. Another hallmark of the Rolex Day-Date is its bracelet, officially named the ‘President’ bracelet. Characterized by its semi-circular links, the President bracelet is almost as famous as the timepiece itself, not to mention the icons who wore one.

This version the reference 18038 was originally launched in 1978 and was produced until 1988. The most noticeable change for this model was the addition of the new calibre 3055 movement which allowed a ‘single quickset’ of the date feature, making it even easier to use for the wearer. Coming set in the classic 36mm 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with a matching 18ct yellow gold fluted bezel. It is fitted with the classic champagne sunburst dial featuring applied baton hour indexes and matching hands, as well as the iconic day/date apertures. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal with a Cyclops for the date, with the watch completed by a matching 18ct yellow gold presidential bracelet with concealed crown clasp.

Originally purchased in April 1986 and in mint condition. Supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, as well as its original perforated international warranty certificate. No booklets.

This Day-Date is in immaculate condition, with very little flex in the gold bracelet, the fluted bezel is still sharp, this watch has really not been worn a great deal through its life. No service marks in the case back, but running to time and performing well. An excellent example.
