Debuting in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date President has entrenched itself as the epitome of the brand's luxurious timepieces. Crafted exclusively from precious metals, the Rolex President stands unrivalled in prestige, excellence, and timeless sophistication. Notably, the introduction of the Day-Date marked a horological milestone as the first watch to prominently display the full day of the week at 12 o'clock, accompanied by a date window at 3 o'clock. A defining feature of the Rolex Day-Date is its iconic 'President' bracelet, distinguished by its semi-circular links; a symbol of opulence as renowned as the timepiece itself, often associated with the iconic personalities whose wrists they adorned. 

The reference 18238, introduced in 1988 and in production until 2000, underwent a significant update with the incorporation of the new calibre 3155 movement. This movement introduced a 'double quickset' feature for adjusting the day/date, enhancing user convenience. Housed in the iconic 36mm solid 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with a matching fluted bezel, the watch features a champagne sunburst finished dial adorned with diamond-set hour markers and black printed minute markers. Ensuring durability and clarity, the watch features a sapphire crystal glass with a cyclops for the date and a screw-down crown, providing a water resistance of 10atm (100m/330ft). Lastly, the timepiece is completed by a flawless 18ct yellow gold President bracelet with a concealed folding clasp.

Originally purchased in January 1990 (L serial) and in mint condition for its age, coming supplied with its original inner box, Day-Date booklet, seal, swing tag, translation booklet, service card (March 2010), leather document holder, original purchase receipt and original perforated international warranty certificate.
