Rolex Day-Date Vintage, 18038

Originally launched in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date President has remained as the brand’s signature luxury watch. Exclusively crafted in precious metals, few luxury watches come close to the prestige, excellence, and timelessness of the Rolex President. When Rolex introduced the Day-Date, it was the first watch include the day of the week written in full at 12 o’clock along with the date window at 3 o’clock. Another hallmark of the Rolex Day-Date is its bracelet, officially named the ‘President’ bracelet. Characterized by its semi-circular links, the President bracelet is almost as famous as the timepiece itself, not to mention the icons who wore one.

This version the reference 18038 was originally launched in 1978 and was produced until 1988. The most noticeable change for this model was the addition of the new calibre 3055 movement which allowed a ‘single quickset’ of the date feature, making it even easier to use for the wearer. Coming set in the classic 36mm 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with a matching fluted bezel and screwdown crown for a water resistance of 10atm (100m/330ft). This watch comes with the rarely seen and highly sought after cream / ivory dial with full Roman numeral indexes and matching hands. A flat sapphire crystal protects the dial, with the watch completed by a new replacement brown alligator strap with an 18ct yellow gold crown pin buckle.

Originally produced in circa 1987 and in fine condition with some signs of aging present on the dial. Supplied with an original inner and outer box, as well as a 2024 Rolex receipt listing the replacement strap and buckle.
