Rolex Daytona Everose Gold Unworn, 116505

Born out of the early 1930’s sports watches worn by Sir Malcom Campbell, Rolex has long been associated with motor racing and speed. In 1963 Rolex removed the telemeter scale and moved the tachymeter onto the bezel for increased dial legibility and introduced the world to the term ‘Cosmograph’. But it was not until 1965 that the term ‘Daytona’ was used on the model, which came about as Rolex was the official timepiece of the racetrack.

The Cosmograph Daytona has, thanks to its legendary status as the ultimate racing tool watch often appeared in luxurious solid gold cases ever since the reference 6263 in 1969. The solid gold versions were produced in far more limited numbers than their steel counterparts and thus have become very collectable in the years since.

This version the reference 116505 was produced between 2011-2019 and has since been updated. It comes set in a polished 40mm solid hallmarked 18ct rose gold Oyster case with a fixed Everose gold units-per-hour bezel. The dial is a clean black colour with applied luminous hour markers and triple chronograph sub-dials in contrasting champagne/black colourways to the dial. Protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and fitted with screw-down pushers and Triplock crown, the watch is powered by the Rolex in-house calibre 4130 automatic self-winding mechanism. It comes fitted on a matching solid 18ct Everose gold Oyster link bracelet with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp with the Easylink extension system.

Originally purchased in August 2011 and in unworn, partially stickered condition, this Daytona comes with its original inner & outer boxes, instruction booklet, previous sales receipt, leather card holder and international warranty card. It is sold with a full 12-month warranty from SWC.
