The Explorer, launched in 1953, set itself apart with a simple design and a highly legible black dial with large hour markers and characteristic 3,6,9 numerals. It is a tool watch, created to tell time accurately, whatever the circumstances and has adorned the wrists of some of the greatest explorers undertaking incredible expeditions (like Sir Edmund Hillary to Mount Everest).

In 2021 the Explorer collection has been reset to its classic 36mm size case after 10 years of being 39mm, with a stainless steel model and for the first time since the 1960’s a steel and yellow gold model (that was only available in Canada).

This is the reference 124273 and it comes in a polished Oystersteel case with am 18ct yellow gold smooth polished bezel. The dial is the traditional clean black colour with modern Chromalight luminous baton hour markers and iconic 3/6/9 Arabic numerals, which are edged in yellow gold. The glass is sapphire crystal and is fitted with a twin-lock screw down crown for water resistance up to 100M. The watch has been fitted with the latest Rolex 3230 calibre automatic movement and it comes fitted with a matching Rolesor Oyster link bracelet with a folding Oysterlock clasp with Easylink extension.

Originally purchased in May 2021 and in unworn condition this Explorer comes with its original inner and outer boxes, green leather cardholder, swing tag, seal, Explorer instructions and international warranty card. This Explorer is under Rolex’s 5-year warranty until May 2026.
