In its 40th anniversary year in 2011, the Explorer II received a total makeover. The case was increased from 40mm to 42mm and manufactured with 904L steel, with enlarged hands for enhanced visibility. The most noticeable feature was the addition of the famous orange 24-hour hand ending in an arrow that stands out brightly against the black dial, which mirrors the original Explorer II worn by the film legend Steve McQueen. It can be used to distinguish day from night at the poles or in caves, or alternatively as a second time-zone indicator thanks to the hacking-hour hand.

Originally purchased in May 2019 and in Mint condition, like new, the watch is covered by its manufacturers guarantee until May 2024. The watch comes supplied with green hang tag, instruction manual and international warranty card, supplied by a main UK Rolex AD.
