Originally introduced in 1971, the Explorer II was designed to cater to the needs of spelunkers and cave explorers, featuring a distinctive 24-hour bezel and an additional hand to distinguish between day and night. Over the years, this iconic Rolex model has evolved while maintaining its core identity, becoming a symbol of adventure and resilience. With its robust construction, advanced technology, and timeless design, the Explorer II continues to captivate watch enthusiasts and adventurers alike, embodying the spirit of exploration that is deeply ingrained in the Rolex heritage.

This version of the iconic Explorer II, reference 16570 was produced from 1989 until 2011 and comes set in a 40mm stainless steel case with engraved 24-hour bezel. The watch features the crisp white ‘Polar’ dial with a striking red 24-hour hand, applied Superluminova dot hour markers and matching hands, as well as the classic date aperture at 3 o'clock. These details are protected by a sapphire crystal glass and powered by the automatic calibre 3185 chronometer movement. Lastly, the 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance is assured by a Twinlock screwdown crown, with the watch completed by a stainless-steel Oyster link bracelet with embossed safety catch clasp.

Originally purchased in April 2005 and in mint condition for its age, this Explorer II comes supplied with a Rolex box and the original warranty certificate.
