The reliability and precision of an ordinary mechanical watch can be affected by a magnetic field of 50 to 100 gauss. But many scientists are exposed to much higher magnetic fields during the course of their work. Rolex’s answer was the Rolex Milgauss, created in 1956, the first watch of its kind. The automatic movement is fitted with a blue PARACHROM hairspring which not only provides full protection against magnetic fields but is also much more shock resistant. The name is derived from the french word for thousand, which is how resistant the watch is against magnetic forces which are measured in gauss.

The watch features a colourful and striking blue dial detailed with a punchy bright orange lightning strike seconds hand, luminous baton hour markers, polished steel bezel and is fitted with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet. Not only resistant to magnetic fields, the watch is also water-resistant to 100m.

Originally purchased in October 2019. In mint condition, the watch comes supplied with the original inner and outer Rolex boxes, swing tags, instruction manual, guarantee manual and international warranty card.
