The Rolex Oyster Perpetual holds a foundational place in the history of modern watchmaking, representing the essence of Rolex’s innovation and craftsmanship. Introduced in 1931, it was the first wristwatch to combine two groundbreaking Rolex inventions: the waterproof Oyster case (1926) and the self-winding Perpetual rotor. This model reference 15238 is presented in a polished solid 18ct yellow gold 34mm Oyster case with solid lugs and a Twinlock screw-down crown. The bezel is a fluted yellow gold finish with a champagne coloured dial with applied gold baton hour markers with luminous dots on top (Tritium). The hands are the classic ‘stick’ style and the dial is finished off with the date feature at 3 o’clock with a magnifying cyclops lens for increased legibility. These details are protected by a sapphire crystal and powered by the workhorse automatic calibre 3135 movement. Lastly, it is completed by its original matching 18ct yellow gold riveted and tapered Oyster link bracelet with a classic folding clasp.
