Emerging from the visionary ingenuity of Rolex's founder, Hans Wilsdorf, the Oyster Perpetual series stands as a pinnacle of horological innovation. In 1931, Rolex achieved a groundbreaking milestone by patenting a self-winding watch movement; the world’s first mechanism to be energized through a rotor 'weight.' This ingenious design allowed the timepiece to harness the motion of the wearer's arm and wrist, ensuring a perpetual winding of the intricate mechanism. The moniker 'Perpetual' aptly reflected this self-sustaining feature. Notably, it wasn't until the 1950s that the appellation 'Oyster Perpetual' graced the dials of automatic Rolex watches, marking a significant era in the evolution of this iconic timekeeping legacy.

This ladies iteration of the Oyster Perpetual Date, reference 69160 comes presented in a stainless steel 26mm Oyster case with a smooth polished bezel and a Twinlock screw-down crown, ensuring its 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance. The crisp white dial features applied baton indicators with luminous dots, matching hands and the classic date aperture at 3 o'clock. The watch is fitted with a flat sapphire crystal glass with cyclops for the date and powered by the automatic calibre 2135 chronometer movement. Lastly, this Oyster Perpetual Date comes fitted on on a brand new stainless steel Oyster bracelet with folding clasp.

Originally purchased in December 1996 and in mint condition, coming supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, Oyster Perpetual Date booklet, Rolex service paperwork (April 2008) and a photocopy of the original purchase receipt.
