Vintage Rolex Sea Dweller, 16660

We are proud to present this exceptionally rare Rolex Sea-Dweller, original matte dial, from April 1989, reference 16660, offered in fine condition.

At its core is the Rolex calibre 3035 self-winding movement. Renowned for its robustness, precision and reliability, the chronometer-certified calibre features a quickset date function and delivers exceptional timekeeping performance. Engineered for professional saturation diving, the watch incorporates Rolex’s patented helium escape valve, ensuring optimal pressure equalisation during decompression.

Reference 16660 features a classic matte black dial with luminous hour markers and Mercedes hands, providing outstanding legibility in low-light conditions. Commonly referred to by collectors as the “Triple Six”, this transitional Sea-Dweller introduced the sapphire crystal and increased depth rating to the collection.

The stainless steel Oyster case is complemented by a unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel with engraved timing scale, reinforcing the unmistakable utilitarian design language of the Sea-Dweller range. Measuring 40mm in diameter, the case is fitted with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet incorporating the Rolex diver’s extension and adjustment clasp system for enhanced comfort and versatility. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, preserving exceptional clarity and scratch resistance, whilst the solid screw-down case back and Triplock crown ensure water resistance to 1220 metres / 4000 feet.
