Rolex Submariner Date Vintage, 1680

We are proud to present this iconic Rolex Submariner Date for sale in mint condition for its age, fully checked and authenticated in our on site workshop. 

First introduced in 1953, the Submariner is a legendary timepiece with a rich history deeply intertwined with the world of diving. Originally designed as a professional diver's watch, and soon becoming the first watch to achieve a water resistance of 30atm (300m/1000ft), the Submariner quickly gained iconic status for its exceptional durability, precision, and distinctive aesthetic. Over the years, it has evolved while maintaining its core attributes, becoming a symbol of both underwater exploration and timeless elegance. With its robust construction and technological innovations, the Rolex Submariner continues to be a sought-after classic, embodying a legacy of horological excellence and adventure.

It wasn’t until 1967 that the Submariner got its now iconic date feature with the model reference 1680. This is a later version of that same watch without the red Submariner text, and is often referred to as the 'White Submariner'. It comes set in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case with a bi-rotational bezel with black insert and contrasting silver dive graduations. The dial is a Mark I matte black dial featuring aged dot hour markers and matching aged hand set, with the classic date feature at 3 o’clock. The dial is protected by an acrylic plexi-glass (called a top-hat because of its raised profile) and the watch is powered by the Rolex calibre 1570 automatic movement. Lastly, the watch comes fitted on a stainless steel Oyster link bracelet with folding safety catch dive extension clasp.
