The Rolex Submariner, first introduced in 1953, is a legendary timepiece with a rich history deeply intertwined with the world of diving. Originally designed as a professional diver's watch, and soon becoming the first watch to achieve a water resistance of 30atm (300m/1000ft), the Submariner quickly gained iconic status for its exceptional durability, precision, and distinctive aesthetic. Over the years, it has evolved while maintaining its core attributes, becoming a symbol of both underwater exploration and timeless elegance. With its robust construction and technological innovations, the Rolex Submariner continues to be a sought-after classic, embodying a legacy of horological excellence and adventure.
First launched in 2003, this was Rolex’s first ever anniversary edition and was introduced to celebrate the 50th year of the Submariner. To mark this incredible milestone Rolex fitted a green bezel insert to their iconic dive watch, the first time in their history! Another welcome addition was the introduction of the 'Maxi' dial, featuring larger hour indexes and fatter hands than the standard Submariner Date, resulting in increased legibility. However, over the 7 years that this watch was produced, further subtle details were introduced causing the Kermit to come in many variations, making it one of the most collectable models that Rolex has ever produced. These subtle details centre around 3 main elements, the bezel, dial and case; All of which were produced in various iterations.
This version can be identified as a Mk 4 and features the non ‘fat-four’ bezel (only found on Mk I & II) and the 5th version of the dial with narrow spaced ‘Oyster Perpetual Date’ and ‘Swiss Made’ text fitting neatly at 6 o’clock with shortened 29/30/31 minute markers. Coming fitted in the classic 40mm stainless steel Oyster case fitted with a Triple lock screw-down crown, ensuring its 30atm (300m/1000ft) water resistance. Reliably driven by the automatic calibre 3135 chronometer movement which is safeguarded by a solid screwdown caseback. Lastly, this Submariner is completed by the classic stainless steel Oyster bracelet and secured by a folding Oysterlock safety clasp.
Originally sold in Portugal in March 2009 and in mint condition. This Submariner comes with its original inner and outer box, both hang tags, Submariner booklet, guarantee manual and international warranty card and wallet.
This watch does have some tiny marks on the top section of the glass edge. A new glass can be supplied and fitted if required.
