Conceived by Hans Wilsdorf to pay tribute to World War II pilots, the Rolex Air-King boasts a remarkable production history spanning over seven decades. Pilots and fervent Rolex admirers alike have embraced the Air-King, with esteemed companies such as Pan-Am selecting these timepieces as retirement gifts for their pilots. This version of the famed Air-King, reference 5700, was first released in 1958 following the success of the non-date Air-King reference 5500 which was released the year before. Coming set in a 34mm stainless steel Oyster case with smooth polished bezel and fitted with a screwdown crown, ensuring the 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance. The silver linen finished dial features a contrasting black minute track, applied baton indicators and matching hands, all protected by an acrylic plexi crystal. Driven by the automatic calibre 1535 and further safeguarded by solid screwdown caseback. Lastly, this Air-King Date is completed by a tapered stainless steel Oyster bracelet with folding Oyster clasp.
Originally purchased in October 1974 and in mint condition for its age, supplied with its original inner box, 'Your Rolex' booklet, translation booklet and blank international warranty certificate.
Following a recent service this Air-King Date is sold with a 24-month service warranty.
