Spectre, Skyfall & Omega: The Watches of James Bond 007

Later this month the long awaited new James Bond film ‘Spectre’ finally hits the cinema screens, and with every new film a new watch must follow! James Bond the stylish British spy is known across the globe for many things, fast cars, martinis, women, plenty of action, gadgets and of course, wrist watches!

Every film since 1995 has featured James wearing an Omega timepiece, previous to this various actors have worn a variety of watches from all the big Swiss brands, many old-school fans will remember the Rolex as seen in the very first film ‘Dr. No’ back in the early 1960’s. Fast forward to the 90’s and Pierce Brosnan being the first incarnation of James Bond to use an Omega Seamaster Professional equipped with a laser beam and remote control in the film ‘Goldeneye’, widely credited as refreshing the franchise.

For many fans Omega is the brand most associated with Bond and it is undoubtedly a very lucrative licence for product placement, Omega a brand synonymous with action, adventure and military history, the James Bond films are the best possible platform to reach their intended audience.

Here at www.watches.co.uk we have a number of James Bond collectible wristwatches in stock, most notably the Skyfall limited edition Omega Planet Ocean (23230422101004) this watch was created to celebrate the seventh performance in a supporting role on the wrist of James Bond 007, notable for being the first to be powered by Omega’s exclusive Calibre 8507 movement.

Sam Mendes’ Skyfall film saw Bond issued with a 42mm Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m. Not a major change from the base model; the red and black colour scheme of previous Bond watches returned, and the winding rotor is engraved “Skyfall”. Take a closer look here at the Omega Skyfall

Finally, if that hasn’t given you a licence to thrill take a look at our 50th Anniversary Seamaster ( Released alongside the Skyfall Bond watch, this piece marked James Bond’s half-century on the silver screen – it being fifty years since Dr. No was released in 1962. Unlike the Skyfall watch, this is a Seamaster 300m rather than a Planet Ocean, available in 41mm and 36.25mm versions. It’s still a co-axial caliber (cal. 2507, with a 48-hour power reserve) but instead of a sapphire caseback you get a Bond title sequence-inspired spiral with engraved ‘bullet’ base at the centre, as well as the caseback, you’ve got the 007 logo across the dial and for good measure, the “50” on the unidirectional rotating bezel is picked out in red for the anniversary.
