Introduced in 1969, the Monaco achieved instant fame as the first-ever automatic chronograph with a square case. However, its place in horological history was solidified when it graced the wrist of Steve McQueen in the classic film "Le Mans." where he drove a Porsche 917 in the iconic orange and blue Gulf livery. unconventional and avant-garde design, coupled with cutting-edge technology, set the Monaco apart as a symbol of innovation. Over the years, this timepiece has evolved with various iterations, each paying homage to its racing heritage and pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. The Tag Heuer Monaco remains a timeless embodiment of both motorsport prestige and avant-garde watch design.

This particular special edition Monaco, reference CAW211R.FC6401 commemorates the company 'Gulf' who is widely renowned for their bold Orange and Blue racing livery. It comes set in a polished/brushed 39mm stainless steel case in the iconic square-shape and is fitted with a raised sapphire crystal as well as a brushed bezel. The 2 register blue dial features 2 contrasting orange/blue racing stripes running vertically through the dial, as well rounded-square sub-dials for the running second hand and timing up to 30 minutes. The dial details are completed by a date aperture at 6 o'clock, in addition to luminous indexes and hands, the latter half inlaid with red. Powering this Monaco is the automatic calibre 11 chronograph movement, which is visible through an exhibition caseback. Lastly, the watch is finished off with a dark blue perforated leather strap with orange stitching and secured with a polished 'Heuer' deployment buckle.

Originally purchased in September 2021 and in mint condition with only a couple very small marks present on the case. Coming supplied with its original commemorative inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, Monaco booklet and its original international warranty card.
