The Tudor 79220B I was looking at buying the Tudor 79220B back in 2020, however Covid and life happened. The price of this watch seemed to keep climbing and I thought I missed my chance. Fast forward a few years my random Googling of 79220B actually hit a London based dealer. I couldn’t believe the watch I had been stalking for 5 years came up in West London within my original budget from 2020. I sent a random email on a Friday afternoon asking how I could come see the timepiece. I wasn’t expecting a reply so late on a Friday but within a few minutes. Dee very kindly told me I would need to make an appointment and that they are closed on the weekends, the pictures taken is of of the actual watch. Dee even told me there was a minor mark on the bezel which I should inspect if I come in. (You don't often hear such honesty) I emailed back on Monday to make an appointment; I was unable to make it to Chiswick until midweek. Dee put the watch on hold for me so none could snap this up. Without a deposit. I was really taken aback by the trust they put in me – at this stage they did not know if I was even going to show up. To turn down the chance of a sale was such a sign of trust I knew I was in good hands. The Wednesday I was welcomed in by Tim, we ended up talking about our love of 80s action films, Seiko’s, holidays, everything except the Tudor 79220B. There was no hard sell, no value proposition chat. The watch by the way was in beautiful condition. Once we eventually did start talking about the 79220B. Tim was completely transparent with me; he put the watch on a timegrapher and showed me a slight beat error. Which his colleague Chris was happy to look over and regulate for me. I told SWC I was travelling back to Pakistan for summer. And asked if they could keep a hold of the watch for me, which they were happy to do so ( at no extra charge). I came back from my holiday like a kid at Christmas, I picked up the watch after a little regulate check, small clean, box and papers. Tim and I had a catch up as we both had come back from family holidays. I was walked out the door by Tim and we said our goodbyes. I almost feel dirty using the world sale, or service with my encounter with SWC. It was just a team of people who love watches trying to help one and another in this little hobby. 4 months in, I am still loving the 79220B, I am lucky to be able to have this watch, and I cannot praise everyone at SWC for being such a lovely bunch of people who helped me tracking down this timepiece. I am not sure if any future purchase will ever live up to my encounter with SWC, the honesty, the transparency, the genuine care. It will stay with me forever.
