We are proud to present this incredibly rare Tudor Ranger II watch for sale
Created in the 1970's and the successor of the historic Tudor Ranger, the Tudor Ranger II stands testament to the era of it was produced in, designed by utilising almost every major watch design trend of the 70's. For starters it's a stainless steel sports watch which features an integrated bracelet with enlarged links, and housed in a tonneau-shaped case with an oversized fixed engine turned bezel. Although on paper these classic 70's design cues would indicate the Ranger II would be a great success, unfortunately in practicality this was not the case and this meant that very few of the model were ever produced.
Fast forward to modern day and there are even less Tudor Ranger II's in circulation, with this particular watch being the only example for sale in the UK, as well as being 1 of only 2 listed for sale worldwide. It was the watches initial unpopularity which has led to so few examples existing today, and because of this the Ranger II has become a very rare oddity in the history of Tudor Rolex, and surviving examples are now incredibly sought after among Vintage collectors. Moreover, this watch served as inspiration for the Tudor North Flag, which was the first tudor to feature an in house movement, and can attribute it's numerals, hand set and the integrated nature of its case to Ranger II.
This particular reference '9111/0', is set in a 38mm stainless steel tonneau case with engine turned bezel, integrated bezel and matching fold-over Tudor clasp with Rolex hinge. The dial is a deep blue with quarter Arabic numerals '6,9,12', classic baton hour indicators and date aperture at 3 o'clock. The hands are magnificent, with arrow hours, baton minutes and striking orange syringe seconds hand. The acrylic crystal features a cyclops lens over the date aperture for increased legibility, with both the caseback and the early twinlock crown signed Rolex.
Originally produced in 1974 (aged from serial), and supplied in unpolished collectors condition. this Tudor Ranger II is all original and to the best of our knowledge has never been serviced, although is running well considering it's age. The hour markers have developed an even creamy patina, as well as the lume plots of the hands maturing to a slightly tropical orange colour which match the syringe second hand perfectly. Please note, the bracelet on this watch will only fit a 17.5cm wrist and there are no spare links available. This Tudor is sold with a 12-month warranty from SWC.
This is your chance to add this incredibly rare and sought after piece to your collection.
