The origins of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas harks back to the 1970s where to celebrate the companies 222^nd anniversary they launched their own sports model to compete against the likes of the Royal Oak and the Nautilus. The ref.222 was born and was a radical change of pace compared to Vacheron’s other timepieces. With a thin barrel-shaped case, notched round bezel and Maltese cross inlaid on the case at 5 o’clock it also featured an integral bracelet and was water resistant up to 120M.

In 1996 Vacheron launched the Overseas collection, inspired by the 222 of the 70s and came with the tonneau-shaped case with a fluted bezel reminiscent of the Maltese cross. It also had crown guards and an integrated bracelet with geometric links. In 1999 a chronograph version was made for the first time in the collection and it also featured a grand date aperture.

This version is the 3^rd generation of the Overseas, which was originally launched in 2016 and is set in a satin/polished 41mm stainless steel case. It has a fixed bezel in the Maltese cross style with 6 notches (down from 8 in the 2^nd generation) giving it an overall cleaner and more elegant profile. The dial is a rich oceanic blue with contrasting white minute markers and luminous hour markers and hands. The dial is finished off with a legible date aperture at 3 o’clock and it is protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass. The watch is powered by the Vacheron calibre 5100 in-house automatic movement, which is visible through an exhibition caseback and comes on an integrated steel link bracelet with a dual folding Maltese cross clasp. It also comes with two additional straps, one blue alligator leather and blue rubber making this a very versatile watch for any occasion.

Originally purchased in February 2022 and in mint condition, this Overseas comes with its original inner & outer boxes, the hour club card, seal, certificate of origin and international warranty card. This watch benefits from an extended warranty until 2030.
